The Shop

chuck read

index-chuck.jpgI started tattooing in Pittsburgh, PA in 1996. After my apprenticeship, I moved to Harrisburg, PA. After working at a few shops in and around the area, I was offered a position at Permanent Impressions Tattoo where I tattooed from 1999 to October of 2008. In October 2008, I left Permanent Impressions to open Never Say Die Tattoo where I will continue to push myself and my staff to new levels of ability and skill.

index-jd.jpg"Let the Beauties and Horrors of this World be my Inspiration." - JDB

At a very early age, JD has been daydreaming and scribbling on anything that appears to be a blank slate. From paper and canvas, to storytelling and comics, JD has been "Killustrating" for the small press community, offering pin-up illustrations in a few published works such as the Novo series (issues #3 & #4) and The Living Corpse trade paperback. In addition to earning his ranks among the Small Press Commandos as "Killustrator", JD has also developed his skills as a "Skullptor" as well. Sculpting busts and miniatures, as well as experimenting with action figures and mold making, JD has also left his mark with a lot of his three dimensional creations, helping to promote small press comic book titles (Bloody Pulp, American Terror, Jesus Hates Zombies, FUBAR, Novo, The Living Corpse) as well as his own, original works. At present, he continues to push his own boundaries, and finished his apprenticeship at Never Say Die in April of 2012. Learning this historical medium has lent JD new insight into the world of art, as well as Tattooing specifically. JD wishes to continue to push his boundaries with new, original ideas that can now be "worn" by many to enjoy.
